Yeshiva Leadership Group was founded by Rabbi Yerachmiel Garfield, in 2021 to explore how best school leadership can be supported. In the wake of COVID, our communities have been alerted to the importance of our schools and their leadership being effective and impactful. Yeshiva Leadership Group was formed to address the “Top Team” of our school organizations. By providing networking opportunities, professional development, school visits, and targeted coaching, YLG is ready to support our schools.

 

Rabbi Garfield is uniquely suited for this task. In his over two decades in education, he has taught and led institutions for children from ages 15 months to post-graduate studies. He has served as a youth director, teacher, rebbe, school counselor, assistant Menahel, associate professor, and currently serves as Head of School at the largest Jewish Day School in Texas.

 

Rabbi Garfield has a master's degree in Counseling and a post-master's certificate in school administration from Johns Hopkins University. He completed his Doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of Houston, with his dissertation focused on Head of School evaluations. For ten summers, Rabbi Garfield served as adjunct faculty for the Johns Hopkins School of Education, where he taught aspiring teachers and rebbiem the fundamentals of human behavior as preparation for the classroom.  Torah Umesorah National Fellowship for Principals program. He holds a Doctorate in Education from the University of Houston.

As a respected national educational leader, Rabbi Garfield has served on a number of national committees of Torah Umesorah. These have included planning their national convention for Menahlim and serving on their school accreditation team for other Yeshiva Day Schools. In addition to presenting professional development workshops at schools across the country and at national conferences, Rabbi Garfield has written extensively on educational topics in national newspapers and scholarly journals. He is also the host of the 'Chinuch Today' podcast, a bi-weekly show that highlights innovative educational ideas and the people behind them.

 

Most significantly, Rabbi Garfield has led Yeshiva Toras Emes, a large Orthodox day school in Houston, Texas. Under his leadership, the school has grown from 150 to well over 500 students, built a new expansive campus, and expanded the faculty infrastructure by over 300%. YTE is a school known for its culture of warmth and support for every child.
